I normally avoid fried stuff, but sometimes even mum would fry wadas for us specially during the  summers. So when I get very tempted to eat wadas instead of buying from out I make it for my family.  Yummy, tasty snack which you cannot help getting addicted to.
Ingredients:

  • 1 c gram flour,
  •  5 medium size potatoes boiled and peeled,
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder,
  • 5 flakes garlic
  • 1″ginger
  • 5 green chillies, 
  • 1/4 bundle of coriander leaves
  • Pinch of soda bircarb
  • Salt to taste
  • Chilli powder if required
  • Water as required 
  • Oil for deep frying

Method; Blend together gram flour, salt, soda, tumeric powder and chilli powder if using.  Add enough water to form a thick batter.   Heat oil in a kadai.  Pour about 1 tbsp of hot melted oil into the gram flour mix and set aside for 1/2 hour.  Meanwhile grind ginger, garlic, chillies and coriander leaves to a paste. Cut potatoes into fine cubes.  Mix with salt and the ground paste.

Form into round balls , dip into the batter and deep fry on a medium flame to a golden brown colour.  Drain thoroughly and serve with tomato sauce and chutney of your choice.
